What is Comfort Keepers?

Comfort Keepers was established in 1998 by Kris Clum, a registered home nurse in Ohio. Kris recognized her senior patients’ need for more than medical attention and saw an opportunity to help.

Who Owns Comfort Keepers?

Sodexo is the parent company for Comfort Keepers Franchising, Inc. Sodexo is a global organization dedicated to delivering a wide range of services to healthcare and senior living providers. For more information, please review our Sodexo information page.

Comfort Keepers operations are available through franchise owners, or independently owned and operated locations.

Senior Care Opportunity

  • Almost 45% of seniors 85 and older express difficulty with independent living, including visiting a doctor’s office, errands, and shopping.
  • Difficulty with independent living is second only to walking or climbing stairs for all older population age groups.
  • There are nearly 50 million adults age 65+ in the U.S.
  • The 65+ population is expected to nearly double to 70 million over the next 30 years as the Baby Boomer generation continues to mature.
  • An estimated 10,000 Baby Boomers will hit retirement age every day through 2030.
  • With an average life expectancy over 75 years of age, the need for senior care will continue to escalate.

Training for New Franchise Owners

With the right tools and a strong commitment, you can build a successful Comfort Keepers franchise. We offer structured training and coaching plus guidance on creating a solid business plan.

Comprehensive Training

From the start, Comfort Keepers provides new franchisees comprehensive training in all aspects of management and operations, including spending time in an active Comfort Keepers office to observe operations. We’ll teach you hands-on techniques for running and developing a successful Comfort Keepers business with our comprehensive training curriculum led by a Business Coach.

The Five Phases of Our Training Program

To arm our future franchisees with the tools and confidence to flourish, we crafted a thorough onboarding process in five phases.

Explore

Curious about Comfort Keepers? Prior to committing, we grant prospective team members the opportunity to meet our specialists, ranging from marketing experts to representatives of the nursing staff. Joined by no more than a handful of other prospects, you can ask as many questions as you’d like to discern whether Comfort Keepers is the right franchise organization for you.

Engage

Once you decide that you want to own a Comfort Keepers franchise, your learning begins! We’ll connect you with your Regional Director to give you insights on creating a business plan.

Experience

At this phase, your growth truly accelerates. Participants come to California for 4+ days of various training programs. Comfort Keepers hosts sessions designed to provide the keys to success, including

  • Creating and executing a marketing plan
  • Conveying what makes Comfort Keepers unique
  • Proper utilization of sales tools
  • Recruiting, hiring, and training skilled caregivers
  • Teaching caregivers to proper home etiquette and safety assessments
  • Scheduling tips
  • IT systems
  • Financing

What’s more, new franchisees can network with colleagues to build friendships and join a supportive community.

Execute

Following the on-site training, new franchise owners transition to one-on-one coaching from their Regional Director. Questions will arise as you dive deeper into the materials and put concepts into practice, so our Regional Directors are available to help you navigate the first few months of operations.

Excel

In addition to regular conversations with the Regional Directors, franchisees will have the opportunity to join a Performance Management Group (PMG). This is a peer-supported quarterly mastermind meeting designed to afford you the ability to review your business with your peers and take away best practices and tips from other successful Comfort Keepers owners.

Additional ongoing support options include access to our Business Support Center, networking events, annual conferences, business development training, and area meetings. Learn more about the opportunities we offer to seasoned franchisees!

Remember, at all phases of your Comfort Keepers journey, you’re never alone. You won’t have to have all of the answers from the start. We’ll be there with you along the way, allowing you to concentrate on growing your business and serving your community.

Franchise Support

Running a business is not cut-and-dry. And we don’t expect franchise owners to navigate the ins-and-outs alone. Comfort Keepers created the Business Support Center for franchisees to find answers or a quick phone call with our experts.

Each franchisee is assigned a Regional Director who will provide one-on-one mentorship and recommendations to consistently strengthen your business plan.

Additionally, we offer state, regional, and national networking events to foster productive friendships between like-minded individuals. This collaborative spirit is also accessible digitally through our online community.

Additional Support

Training doesn’t end just because you’ve completed New Franchise Training. Support is available every step of the way on your journey as a franchise owner. Comfort Keepers empowers you and supports your business through training events, networking opportunities, ongoing support, and a valuable community of colleagues.

Training

Training opportunities and network events are held throughout the year:

Business Development Training teaches franchisees the ins and outs of how to successfully grow a Comfort Keepers business. Comprehensive training is led by our industry experts and encourages you to ask questions to receive actionable answers and insights.

Boot Camps and Area Meetings occur locally throughout the year to help develop your skills while granting opportunities to collaborate with fellow franchisees.

Online Webinars are easily accessible if you can’t meet for in-person training. Detailed webinars are exclusive to franchisees through our online training portal.

Networking

Franchisees across the United States are part of an inclusive network to help one another learn and grow.

While you can connect with any member online, in-person co-op meetings are held frequently so franchisees can meet in their area to brainstorm new ideas, create local marketing strategies, and boost business together.

You also have the opportunity to network with franchisees outside of your region at the Annual Conference. This special event gathers all franchisees for a 3-day event to consult with industry experts and strengthen professional skills through presentations, breakout sessions, and casual conversation.

Day-to-Day Support

Comfort Keepers provides centralized support sources online, by phone, and in-person to help franchisees every step of the way.

Our Business Support Centers out of Irvine, California and Dayton, Ohio are only a quick phone call away and always accessible to supply solutions.

Additionally, Regional Directors live in your area to directly help with business planning and sales training while providing specialized expertise and resources.

Community

At Comfort Keepers, we hold one another accountable – not only through events and trainings, but also through local and national communities. Franchisees have the option to join a local performance management group that meets quarterly to discuss business practices, set goals, and ensure everyone is on the right track to meet their objectives. Alternatively, collaborate online to share experiences with franchisees across the nation.

Whether you’re connecting virtually, attending collaborative area meetings, or working directly with your Regional Director, the Comfort Keepers community is always there for support, development, and success.

Comfort Keepers Success

Our success as an organization relies upon the collective success of our franchisees. That’s why we support our franchise owners with comprehensive training, resources, and the possibility to grow.

As a Comfort Keepers franchise owner, it’s up to you how you map out your franchise development. From online seminars to local mentorship and coaching with regional directors, you decide what plan best fits your learning style and goals.  After all, it’s your business, and we’re here to support you.
